06/05/1471 1471 Monarch Elections
Kingdoms Associated Press - London, England on 5 May 1471 The Monarch of England election season is underway, and six candidates have stepped forward to compete for the throne. The hopeful candidates lined up in London to register for the next election, which will determine the monarch of England. However, before the week-long collection of ballots began, the people of England mourned the death of Andreas Shapre, whose body was laid to rest in a crypt on April 16 in Bristol, Devon. As of May 5, with only two days left to register, six candidates had stepped forward. On April 28, the candidates were contacted to see if they wished to participate in an interview with KAP. All of them agreed, but only three were able to answer the questions. Our first reply came from Lady Vivienne Degrey of Lichfield, Mercia where there is a population of 213 citizens in the county. ✍️ KAP What is the biggest need of the Monarch now? What would you do to fill that need? Lady Vivienne Visibility and positive interaction. ✍️ KAP What have you done for the people of England, in the last five years? Lady Vivienne Most recently, donated 10k pounds to the royal coffers to keep the prestige program going. Does constant service count? Being an active MP.. advancing ideas I believe would be for the betterment of all the people. ✍️ KAP If you could change one thing in England, what would that be? Lady Vivienne Cliqueishness and blind loyalty. ✍️ KAP What is your biggest regret? Lady Vivienne A toss-away comment made years ago that is still held against me. ✍️ KAP What plans do you have for fulfilling your election promises? Lady Vivienne Doing my best to convince others this is the way to go. ✍️ KAP What do you think of gnomes? Should they have equal rights in the taverns? Lady Vivienne They are cute.. If they are English, of course. ✍️ KAP What do you consider to be your weaknesses? Lady Vivienne My temper when provoked by lies, twists of truth and willful ignorance. ✍️ KAP How would you describe your leadership style? Lady Vivienne Direct. Resolute. ✍️ KAP What was a difficult decision you have made? Lady Vivienne Most recently, deciding who to ask to be heir. ✍️ KAP Tell us about a time when you had to handle a crisis. Lady Vivienne A crisis? I define that as a disaster, a calamity. Something that is a great danger. Nothing I have faced, yet, has risen to what I define as a crisis. I don't create crisis out of what amounts to simple drama. Now that I have faced innumerable times. Our second interview reply came from Master Reveille of Arundel, Sussex where there is a population of 355 villagers in the county. ✍️ KAP What is the biggest need of the Monarch now? What would you do to fill that need? Master Reveille We need a Monarch that will inspire others to work together. I will do that by having discussions with many different groups of people and finding ways to unite people rather than drive them apart. ✍️ KAP What have you done for the people of England, in the last five years? Master Reveille I have worked as a political researcher and writer. My work began in Mercia and then it became so popular it expanded to all of England. ✍️ KAP If you could change one thing in England, what would that be? Master Reveille My platform has quite a few things that I would like to do this next term. It's located in my campaign tent in the London Commons. ✍️ KAP What is your biggest regret? Master Reveille Regrets are for those who live in the past. ✍️ KAP What plans do you have for fulfilling your election promises? Master Reveille One step at a time, just keep working on what was promised. My main plan is to have a great group of people to work with so that it is not just me. I have gathered a great group of people, the list can also be found in my campaign tent in the Commons. ✍️ KAP What do you think of gnomes? Should they have equal rights in the taverns? Master Reveille I have yet to see a gnome but of course! They just can't steal my socks. ✍️ KAP What do you consider to be your weaknesses? Master Reveille I don't have a lot of experience in political positions. This is why I have a group of experts to work with who have great experience. ✍️ KAP How would you describe your leadership style? Master Reveille I am calm and relaxed. If there is a problem it is solved step by step. I have a group of people that I work with, they are truly experts in their fields so I let them work without me micromanaging them. ✍️ KAP What was a difficult decision you have made? Master Reveille Running for Monarch has been a difficult decision. I wanted the timing to be perfect. I knew that as soon as I ran, the naysayers and mudslingers would be out for blood. I had to make sure that I was ready for that. ✍️ KAP Tell us about a time when you had to handle a crisis. Master Reveille The other day my press ran out of ink and there was no other ink to be found in the city. So! I discussed with my compatriots as to how to fix this problem and we split up to find more ink in the county. Divide and conquer, so to speak. We found ink and were able to print. Afterwards we had a good drink of ale. The last of our answers came from Lord Kei of Kendal, Westmorland where there is a population of 277 villagers in the county. (KAP would like to add that Devon County has 352 villagers living there.) ✍️ KAP What is the biggest need of the Monarch now? What would you do to fill that need? Lord Kei In my term, I will work hard to ensure the well-being and liberty of the average English citizen. First, I will ensure that County leaders in each county feel heard and supported. I'll work with them to address the most pressing issues of our citizens. I'll do this with a survey system that endeavours to find out what the people in each county actually want and need. Then I'll work on a solution for that problem by working with those who are best able to fill that need. For example, to address safety concerns for travellers, I'll work with the Knightly Orders to create an escort program. ✍️ KAP What have you done for the people of England, in the last five years? Lord Kei Thank you for asking. I have held most Council positions, including two terms of Count. In the past five years, I have also served on the Royal Privy as: Royal Herald, Lord High Constable, and elected Clerk of the House of Lords. I also recently served as both Chief of the Court of Appeals, and Deputy Chief. I was a Court of Appeals Justice for many years. I also fought in two battles during the attack of the Celtic Alliance War. I was nearly killed twice in the defence of England. I am also Quartermaster of the Westmorland Navy, having Captained ships on a couple of recent missions. If you could change one thing in England, what would that be? A major issue is our negative population growth. Previous candidates had proposed various incentive programs, but never had a chance to implement them. I will create an Activity Sponsorship program that rewards English citizens who sponsor legitimate new citizens who reach acceptable activity levels. We can also encourage immigration to England with this program. Secondly, I will organize and sponsor many events and activities that will make England a fun place to live. These include arena fights, pub crawls and archery tournaments that will take place while the Royal Tour is visiting. ✍️ KAP What is your biggest regret? Lord Kei Hhmm. Well, not the beard. This beard is the best decision I've ever made. No. Seriously though. I had a good relationship with Lord Richy before he became King. That was a relationship that I deeply valued. I also deeply valued the relationship with my best friend, Mortyn. I regret not realizing what would become of the ship, the Richy. I would have held onto it tighter if I thought for one moment that I would never see it again. Sadly, there were no red flags. I would have had to have be psychic to see what was coming down the line. ✍️ KAP What plans do you have for fulfilling your election promises? Lord Kei Right! I am already recruiting to grow and strengthen the Royal Activity Committee. This committee will be responsible for several different activities during the term. Of course a Jousting Tournament will be essential, and first on that list. I also have a detailed plan for the Population Incentives Program. For example, citizens can sponsor foreign citizens along with newborns. We'll require all sponsored new immigrants to England to accomplish a certain amount of participation before their sponsor can win their award. This means participation in social, as well as personal development. We've lost too many ships from England's navies in recent years. Nearly every county needs Crown support to keep their defences solid. I will spend Royal funds to strengthen those defences, including springing for new ships. ✍️ KAP What do you think of gnomes? Should they have equal rights in the taverns? Lord Kei Gnomes can have equal rights, but they need to respect humans. We matter too. No more abusive oustings from taverns. This behavior is unacceptable! ✍️ KAP What do you consider to be your weaknesses? Lord Kei I'm very loyal and trusting. This may not seem like a weakness, buy it means that once someone has gained my trust, it's hard for me to see them doing anything malicious. However, I have learned my lesson, and this is something I watch carefully now. I know it's a weakness, but I also know that trusting people is what is needed to live your daily life. I try not to be disillusioned by personal experiences. ✍️ KAP How would you describe your leadership style? Lord Kei I use the visionary leadership style mixed with the coaching leadership style. I'm also somewhat democratic. For example, I'm likely to recruit newer people for positions they haven't tackled before. I have great faith in people that they'll be able to learn while doing. Also, while I don't micromanage people, I will try to motivate, and I'll ask them what they need to complete their tasks. I regularly ask for ideas from the group, and I implement the majority of their ideas. However, I am also not afraid to step out on my own and implement something that I think is really important, even if the group doesn't see agree with the assessment. I will do what's best in any given situation. If a team member is making it impossible for others to work, I'll try and fix that situation, but if I can't, I'm not afraid to let them go. ✍️ KAP What was a difficult decision you have made? Lord Kei Sometimes it is crucial to take action. One of the most difficult decisions I have made was not moving to Europe with the Rondovals. I also left the Rondoval family, and then joined the Sharpe family. It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. ✍️ KAP Tell us about a time when you had to handle a crisis. Lord Kei Well we had an issue with a Count who was taking actions without the agreement of the rest of the Council. We had some monetary issues, and a problem with military funding. This led myself and a couple of folks to place another Council list up for the election to let the people speak with their votes. Our group won in a landslide. Crisis averted. Well, as much as it could be. The election for the monarch of England is set to take place soon, and these candidates have given the people of England a glimpse into their views and personalities. Overall, it was clear that each candidate had their own vision for the future of England and the role of the monarch. It would be up to the people to decide which candidate's vision aligned best with their own.
