Having consulted the heavens, mystic runes, and potent herbs, I, Rainey the Weather Seer, make the following prognostications for the month of October.

As the summer heat slowly gave way to early autumn coolness, we entered the month of October under a full moon and Mercury’s watchful eye in the west. The winds should bring us good harvest weather, as long as we are quick in our endeavors.

At the end of the first week and the start of the second week, shooting stars will radiate from the constellation Draco. Be wary of any strange new plants that may appear in your fields. Do not burn them, for they are probably awakened by fire, but do dig them up and hang them to dry. Once they are dry, grind them and and mix them with peat for long burning in the winter months.

At mid-month, right before the new moon, Mars will be most prominent. Be careful in your dealings with others. Now is not the time for blood to be spilt. Take steps to secure your goods and your loved ones during the moonless nights.

During the third week of October, hunters will find their efforts more successful, for that is when Orion will send his stars to us. Wish wisely on these shooting stars and your family will not want for meat this winter. A week later Taurus shall start sending its own stars to bless the livestock.

The last day of October gives us a blue moon for All Hallow’s Eve. Be more careful than normal on that night for the spirits will be more agitated. There is a chance of clouds and rain because of the influence of Uranus. However, if the skies are clear, make sure that you do not offend the moon by staring and pointing at it.
